The past is the past and it's gone, there is nothing you can do to change it, so you need to turn your attention to the now.
It is sometimes difficult to not look back and think about what has gone on before. If you want to be successful though you have to focus on what is happening right now. You have to leave the past where it is and the only way to live is in the present.
If you are looking back on past regrets, you need to fully understand that you can't go back and undo what has been done.
If you are hanging on to guilt you are only damaging yourself. There is nothing you can do to wipe the slate clean, despite how your previous decisions may have affected people who you may love.
What you must do is to decide today that you will
do whatever you can to ensure you don't make those poor decisions
again, and that you should be all anyone can ask you to do.
Acknowledge where you have got it wrong and resolve to not repeat your
mistakes again.
If your past seemed a better place for you, savour and appreciate what you had, but you should move on and put your efforts towards finding good new experiences. We all have to find new challenges and new things that inspire us.
Every new day is a fresh start with which we can make of it what we want. Continuing to be enthusiastic can be very tough at times, but you need to push yourself to keep going and looking ahead.
Try to see the past as a different part of your life which you can occasionally dwell upon, but it's not somewhere you can go to very often.
The present is the most important time you have, don't waste it by spending any longer than you need to in the past. Don't miss out on now because you are dwelling on what has gone.
Live your life here and live it in this moment.
Say thank you
and make it last.
If you want to leave a lasting impression on someone, then never
just say thank you to someone for what they have done for you. It's
easy to say thanks for something, though qualifying your thanks
lasts much longer :
"Thank you for helping"
"Thank you for your time"
"Thank you for coming"
"Thank you for waiting"
Make this way of saying thanks a habit, and you always will leave a
lasting impression.
