Are you well mannered?
Of course you are, but are your manners as good as they ought to be when you are in a hurry or under pressure? We are all guilty of letting our manners slack off, and forgetting to be grateful to someone for something, and perhaps we are all tempted to push past the slow person in front of us.
We have to interact with people every day and a little politeness and manners goes a long way. British people are renowned for their manners, along with other nations, and if you are in any doubt what politeness is, below are a few examples. However stressed and rushed we feel, we should all make that special effort to show good manners by:
- Queuing politely without pushing
- Keeping a secret
- Keeping a promise
- Complementing people when they deserve it
- Being civil
- Not swearing
- Holding the door open
- Not taking the last piece
- Acknowledge with a “Good Morning/Evening”
- Hold back in a rush
- Being charming and courteous
- Offering visitors a drink
- Say goodbye at the door
