Weight loss tips

Do you want to lose weight? Here are a few ideas and tips you can use to help you:

Start a food diary
Record everything you eat and what you were doing and thinking when you were eating, make it a real emotional diary. Write everything down including snacks and drinks.

Don’t snack
Instead of snaking on your favourite sweet, do something else, like brushing your teeth. Eat your sweet but only take one bite, get the flavour, savour it and then bin the rest.

Wait before eating
When you feel hungry try to wait 10 or twenty minutes, then see how you feel about eating.

Set realistic goals
Have a weight loss goal that you can achieve. Don’t try to lose 30 pounds. Break it down, instead try to lose 3lbs a week, it’s much easier to do that than going for the total.

Drink Water
Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Drink water before meals, or when you feel hungry, as it dulls your appetite and makes you feel full. It also improves your skin quality.

Weigh yourself weekly
Weigh yourself only once a week and do it at the same time, in the same conditions. Your weight fluctuates and can change from day to day.

Don’t be alone
Diet with a friend or join a diet group. Dieting with other people helps you focus on the weight loss much better and makes you stick at it.

Get active
Substitute your cravings with activity. It doesn’t have to be exercise at the gum, go for a walk.

Steer clear of the kitchen
Only go into the kitchen at meal times, try to stay out of the kitchen at all other times. I know it is difficult, but you will see what good it does.

Be careful when you shop
Don’t shop when you are hungry. You will end up buying the wrong food and more of it than you actually intended to buy. Not only will this help with the weight loss but will also save you money.

Do it for you
Lose weight because you want to and not because of pressure from others.

Use smaller plates
If you use smaller plates at mealtimes, you will have less room for food on the plate and you will eat less as a consequence. Leave something on the plate too, don’t eat every last bit of your meal.

Always eat at the table
Eat your food at a set place each time, but don’t do it in front of the television or with other distractions, it causes you to concentrate less on what you are doing.

Chew slowly
Eat your food slowly and chew it more times. The slower you eat your food the more time that you body has to tell the brain you are full up and you don’t need more food.

Don’t eat just before bedtime
Eating before bedtime makes you put on more weight than at any other time, it can also give you nightmares.
